Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue. Deep Tissue Massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish Massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense. Deep Tissue Massage is a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or knots. It also requires the therapist to apply a considerable amount of pressure, which in some cases may cause some discomfort to the client. However, the therapist will always work within the comfort zone of the client.

It is important to stress the realistic expectations of what Deep Tissue Massage can achieve in one session. Undoing chronic tensions that has been built up over long period of time requires an integrated program that includes exercise, working on your posture, working on relaxation techniques as well as regular massage sessions.
